Good stuff mate. Out of curiosity, what’s your view on monetisation rates over longer term and Grindrs ability to add on a more relationship-focused dating product?

To be honest, that's part of the narrative I'm skeptical of. I don't know if they're ever going to be able to escape the hookup app reputation, despite management angling to be some online gay community hub. If they are however, the skies the limit. As far as pricing, they'll be able to raise pricing with inflation, but I'm not sure if there's that much more juice to squeeze in that area. I think the main narrative for me is user growth.

Nice, thanks Myles. Great perspective. I can see some validity in the narrative that there's misalignment in intent across the user-base and shifting preferences but it definitely needs verifying further. I think GRND management have been clear that the core of Grindr will always remain casual connections, and that's the cash cow, but it does seem from my relatively outsider's perspective that they have a lot of levers they can pull to increase ARPU by adding monetizable features already commonplace at hetero dating apps (ie. Roam and others) that will improve the experience for their existing and future network. I guess the proof will be in the pudding...
